Workshops on Conflict Resolution and Customary Law (Darfur)
Professional Training Program Officers Jacqueline Wilson and Jonathan Morgenstein completed two highly successful workshops on Conflict Resolution and Customary Law in Nyala, South Darfur, Sudan.
Workshop on Multilateral Diplomacy for OSCE Mediterranean Partners (Arab/Israeli Relations)
Mike Lekson, Ted Feifer, and Noor Kirdar of the Professional Training program led a workshop on multilateral diplomacy for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mediterranean Partners, in cooperation with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Negotiation Strategies Workshop for Iraqi Women
Senior Program Officer Nina Sughrue of the USIP Professional Training Program offered a half day seminar in negotiation strategies for visiting Iraqi women civil society leaders. The program was part of the State Department´s International Visitors Program.
Negotiation and Diplomatic Skills Training, OSCE Mission in Kosovo
With the prospect of a final status agreement for Kosovo rapidly approaching, Ted Feifer and Jonathan Morgenstein of the Professional Training program conducted the seventh negotiations and diplomatic skills training workshop for the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, in Pristina, on February 8-10, 2006.
SENSE: Dokan, Iraq
Since early in 2005, the Professional Training Program has focused its efforts on supporting the Iraq Institute of Economic Reform (IIER) in its goal of establishing an Iraqi-managed SENSE capability.
Negotiation and Diplomatic Skills Training, OSCE Presence in Albania
Ted Feifer of the Professional Training Program led this second workshop on negotiation and diplomatic skills for OSCE mission staff. There were 17 participants coming from headquarters and four field stations.
Workshop on Conflict Resolution (Upper Nile)
The USIP Professional Training Program conducted a workshop in Malakal, southern Sudan December 5-7, 2005. Senior Program Officer Jacki Wilson was assisted by Program Officer Jonathan Morgenstein for the workshop, which was conducted in partnership with the NGO Reconcile.
Seminar for Professionals Working in Conflict, Post-Conflict, and Reconstruction Situations
Institute Professional Training Officer Nina Sughrue conducted a three and half-day seminar in Annapolis, Maryland, for 32 participants from humanitarian NGOs, U.S. government agencies, the U.S. military, academia, and international organizations involved in relief and peace operations.
Managing Differences through Negotiation and Conflict Management Skills
This was the sixth workshop the Training Program has held for NGOs in Central Asia since 2002, and its fourth partnership with the Businesswomen's Association of Uzbekistan. The 36 women participating in this workshop came from Uzbekistan (including the autonomous area of Karakalpakstan), Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Teaching Conflict Resolution to Israeli and Palestinian Educators
Training Program Officer Ted Feifer and Education Program Officer Alison Milofsky facilitated a 3-day workshop for 30 Israeli and Palestinian educators in Limassol, Cyprus on teaching conflict resolution through the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom.
