The Institute held two separate workshops for 44 participants for junior and senior military personnel ranging from Third Class Petty Officers (E-4) to Navy Captains and Marine Colonels (O-6). The courses included chaplains, medical service corps, and line officers.
The workshops each consisted of presentations, exercises, and a simulation focusing on the nature and objectives of peace, humanitarian, and post-conflict reconstruction operations. They addressed the capabilities, structures, and contributions of inter-governmental organizations (IGOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in such operations, as well as the cross cultural aspects.
This workshop series was the second of its kind that USIP performed for the United States Navy Chaplain Corps.
