Kosovo: What's on the Horizon? An Address by Prime Minister of Kosovo Bajram Rexhepi
With mid-2005 suggested as a review date for progress in Kosovo, will the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government be able to meet the standards? On February 5 the Institute's Balkans Working Group sponsored a special public address by Bajram Rexhepi, prime minister of Kosovo.
Moderated by Daniel Serwer, director of peace and stability operations at USIP, the session explored issues such as:
- How much progress can be achieved in Kosovo?
- How will non-Albanian ethnic groups be treated?
- Will a significant number of Serbs be able to return to their homes?
- Will the election distract Kosovo from achieving the standards?
- Has the current coalition proved a workable model?
- What role should the international community continue to play?
