Although the AU Commission of Inquiry report was finalized on 15 October 2014, the AU did not agree to release it until more than a year later. The Commission of Inquiry report provides a detailed assessment of the initial violations of the civil war, as well as recommendations of mechanisms to prevent a recurrence of the conflict and promote national healing and cohesiveness, as well as accountability mechanisms for gross violations of human rights and other egregious abuses.
