At Midnight, the Masks Come Off: Lessons from the South African Experience
Alex Boraine is co-founder and former Executive Director of the Institute for Justice in Transition, former Executive Director for the Institute for Democratic Alternatives in South Africa, and Vice Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa. In each of these capacities he has been deeply involved in South Africa's effort to deal with the history and effects of the apartheid years. He has also been engaged in assisting the process of transition in several countries, including Northern Ireland and Bosnia. Dr. Boraine discussed the South African Truth Commission and the lessons learned that might be applicable elsewhere.
A Question & Answer period followed Dr. Boraine's remarks; he also fielded questions from the webcast audience.
