(Washington) – TEDxWomen 2012, hosted by The Paley Center for Media and sponsored in part by the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), will take place at the Institute November 30 & December 1. This third in a series of conferences will bring together a diverse group of talented and rousing women and men to challenge traditional gender roles and spotlight groundbreaking advances in topics ranging from autism to violence against women under this year’s theme, The Space Between.

USIP President Jim Marshall will welcome conference attendees on Friday evening, while Manal Omar and Ann-Louise Colgan will participate on Saturday. Omar, director of the Iraq, Iran, and North Africa programs, will discuss her peacebuilding work in the Middle East. As director of the Global Peacebuilding Center, Colgan will provide the closing comments on behalf of USIP.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At the TEDxWomen event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
