The U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) is a public, nonpartisan institute, founded by Congress with a mission to prevent, mitigate, and resolve violent conflict abroad. The Institute’s headquarters is located at the northwest corner of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and serves as a destination for the American public to learn about peacebuilding approaches and as a symbol of the United States’ commitment to global peace.

Visitors to USIP’s open houses learn more about conflict management, explore the institute’s iconic headquarters building, and meet USIP staff who work on peacebuilding around the world.
