Madeleine Albright served under President Bill Clinton as secretary of state from 1997 to 2001, following an appointment of four years as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Early in her career she served on the staff of the National Security Council under President Jimmy Carter. She is the founder and chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm, and a professor of diplomacy at Georgetown University.
