USIP Presents Still Missing

The exhibition offers a firsthand look at forensic investigators’ efforts to exhume and identify the remains of individuals that were forcibly disappeared over the last six decades and return them to their families with dignity. Visitors are invited to reflect on the deep loss of lives cut short, the pain of waiting with waning hope, and the courageous work of a people — and a nation — searching for healing amid ongoing conflict.

This exhibit will run from October 21 to November 25, 2024, from 10:00am to 4:00pm ET. It is available through free, timed ticket entry on most Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Visitors are encouraged to share about the exhibit on social media using #StillMissingCOL.

Age recommendation for this exhibition is 14+. Please note this exhibition contains imagery and descriptions of violent conflict. Additionally, it addresses many topics related to violence and forensic field work, including the search for and discovery of mass graves and forced disappearances.

In the department of Tolima in southern Colombia, families of missing persons participate in the excavation of a mass grave site led by the Missing Person Search Unit.
