The 2019 Korea Global Forum
USIP, in partnership with the Sejong Institute and the South Korean Ministry of Unification, hosted a discussion with experts and practitioners from the United States and South Korea on the challenges and prospects of denuclearization, a peace regime, and a peace economy for the Korean Peninsula—as well as featured keynote remarks from the South Korean Minister of Unification Yeon-chul Kim.

The U.S. Institute of Peace and His Holiness the Dalai Lama have joined to strengthen the abilities of youth leaders to build peace in the world’s most violent regions. On October 23 and 24, 2019, USIP and the Dalai Lama hosted a fourth annual dialogue with 28 youth peacebuilders from 12 countries across the globe.

On October 16, USIP held a discussion on the Right to Assist doctrine with ICNC President Hardy Merriman, co-author of the report, and other civil resistance experts. The event looked at how Right to Assist could be implemented, as well as how increased external support might be viewed from the perspectives of efficacy, international law, practical concerns, and possible unintended consequences.
