(Washington, Jan 8) — David Smock, vice president of the United States Institute of Peace’s (USIP) Center for Mediation and Conflict Resolution, is available to provide journalists with context and analysis of the developing situation in Somalia.

Smock is author of the August 2006 USIP Peace Briefing "How to Respond to Somalia’s Current Crisis". He has worked on African issues for more than 30 years and lived in Africa for 11 years. He has written several books and many reports on peacemaking in Africa. Those reports, including the Somalia report mentioned above, are available at www.usip.org.
