The United States Institute of Peace announced today that Gordon Lubold, a journalist with more than a decade covering national security and foreign policy, will be joining the Institute as a senior advisor to write and cover events and help bring USIP’s work to a broader audience.

"We need strong writers and thinkers to advance our mission of international conflict analysis and management," said Executive Vice President Tara Sonenshine.  "Gordon’s energetic and inquisitive style will be a great addition to USIP efforts as it expands its role over the next several months and years."

As a journalist at Army Times, The Christian Science Monitor and Politico, Gordon has written about the complexities of conflict in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as many of the world’s other conflict-ridden regions.

This year, Gordon launched "Morning Defense" for Politico, a highly successful blog and tip sheet read widely by national security professionals each morning.
