Peace Day Open House 2024
On September 21, USIP celebrated the International Day of Peace with an open house at their headquarters, located at the northwest corner of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Visitors learned about U.S. global peacebuilding and the USIP headquarters, and met USIP staff and experts who work on peacebuilding around the world.
September 21 is the International Day of Peace, and every year USIP invites American and global communities to take part in the Peace Day Challenge: inspire and take part in real-life activities that help to build peace. There’s no better day to visit USIP’s headquarters, and this year, Peace Day Open House activities included:
- Building tours (led and self-guided options)
- Storytelling on the National Mall sessions at 10:30am–11am, 11:30am–12pm, 1pm–1:30pm and 2:30pm–3pm
- Resources to explore peace themes on the National Mall and in Foggy Bottom
- Interactive stations for adults and children that explore peacebuilding skills and tools
- Opportunities to take action for peace and connect with a global network of peacebuilders using #PeaceDayChallenge
