Fanning the Flames, Putting Out the Fire: Ethnic Conflict and the Peace Process
A Plenary Session Sponsored by USIP and the Fulbright New Century Scholars
In 2003-2004, the Fulbright New Century Scholars program supported 30 top academics and professionals from around the world for a collaborative research project on "Addressing Sectarian, Ethnic, and Cultural Conflict Within and Across National Borders." On November 19 as the capstone of this process, the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Fulbright New Century Scholars (NCS) Program hosted a plenary session on ethnic conflict and peace processes.
Held at the Institute from 9 AM to 1 PM, the plenary session consisted of reports by NCS scholars about their major findings. NCS scholars from Sri Lanka, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Macedonia, Ukraine, and elsewhere also participated in the discussions.
