Training USIP's Iraqi SENSE Team in Istanbul

USIP's effort to re-launch our SENSE program in Iraq was successfully initiated October 28th through November 8th, 2008 during an intensive training session in Istanbul, Turkey.  Five USIP staff members from DC, as well as four DC SENSE team members, were joined there by 21 members of the Iraqi SENSE team and two staff members of USIP’s Baghdad Office.

Kenya Youth Workshop

In the rugged highlands of Laikipia at the Gallman Memorial Wildlife Conservancy, Kenyan youth met for three days to turn energy and creativity into projects with goals, targeted audiences and intended outcomes.  The workshop was facilitated by USIP Senior Program Officer Jacki Wilson with consultant Dr. Eran Fraenkel.

USIP conducted a conflict resolution workshop on behalf of the US Embassy in Niger. The Nigerien High Commissioner for the Restoration of Peace had approached the US Embassy to conduct the workshop for leaders with influence in Nigerien society. In the Field: Building Local Conflict Resolution Capacity in Afghanistan

Senior Program Officers Keith Bowen and Nina Sughrue, in conjunction with a local partner, recently conducted a training workshop in conflict resolution in Kabul for 34 Afghans from across the NGO spectrum. The objective was to synthesize traditional Afghan and USIP-based methods of conflict resolution.
